Hey,

I recently upgraded to Catalyst 11.11 from 11.9 and have had issues with DXVA playback with MPCHC and hardware acceleration with YouTube. With DXVA (H.264) enabled on MPCHC, the screen is black while the audio plays. With hardware acceleration enabled for Flash on YouTube, the video loads with a green overlay which is removed if I manually click the beginning of the video a few times.

I know you can fix the YouTube problem by disabling hardware acceleration, but I prefer having it on for whatever reason..

I've reverted to 11.10, but the same issues persist. 11.9 seems to work fine, so does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve the issue?

Thanks :)

Did you uninstall 11.9 before installing 11.11, or did you just install over 11.9, I know some people who had a similiar problem because they just installed over the previous version of Catalyst.

I've never run into the problem you're having, I completely uninstall the previous version, reboot, then run Driver Sweeper to get rid of any crud leftover, reboot, then install the new version, reboot, and am good to go.

I think they released a 11.11b driver.
Did you have a real reason for the update ? Plenty of people get themselves into these positions by "just because" upgrading.

Bottom line is you should treat GPU drivers the same as you would your Motherboard Bios. That is don't upgrade it until you have a real definite need to do so.

The actual issue sounds like its down to the drivers and while there may be a work around i would think it best to stay on teh 11.9 drivers.

I installed over 11.9. I'll try uninstalling with Revo, and then reinstalling 11.11 and see what happens.

Good point, I just did it since it asked me to. However, the move from 11.9 to 11.10/11.11 did provide some UI changes, which were nice.

The 11.11a & 11.11b drivers -- which were more like hotfix drivers -- don't really make many changes, as the "b" version has the exact same display driver as the "a" version, there were only minor additions to 11.11b.

Do not use another uninstaller, I actually screwed something up when I did it through another uninstaller, use AMD's own uninstaller, and then Driver Sweeper.
