ITX build for netusage/streaming

hey there

i'd want to make a low powered net build in itx.

case: Silverstone SG08

option 1

HDD, keyboard, mouse and monitor - don't need

question:
would i be good with the proc, would want to later add a discrete GPU and have it run games but not expecting it to give me eye candy(not much eye candy )

is a dual core, a tri-core or *if i'd want to get some good frame rates on games* would i need to get a quad core?

question 2:
amd or intel route?

will have it on for majority of the day (if there are no power outages) - 24/7

I'd suggest getting an A8-3850 at $134 for the 6550D GPU. It will do gaming at 720p at medium settings without a problem, Might manage low-intensity games (most MMOs, for instance) at 1920x1280 at low-med settings

ah yeah you caught me off guard with the res' thanks mate!

not thinking of dropping a discrete GPU in it now (in fact i'll drop one after a year or so later, maybe never ) - only have Bluray 1080p content playback and the net. Maybe some strategy games like stronghold but on lower details on a 21.5" monitor.

the triple core a6 will do the job just fine. the Quads will be a bit better at gaming.

now how about the cooler, would i need an aftermarket cooler or am i good with the stock cooling solution?

stock is fine unless you plan to overclock

OC'ing a mitx board...for net usage meh, not doing so. Like i said will drop in a discrete later down the road - like my xfx 6870 Black Edition on this system.
