Screen freezes with small squares all over

Hi all,

I just built a new pc and am having some problems with it. Seemingly randomly, and really independent of the game, my screen will freeze with some tearing and squares about. 90% of the time the driver recovers the first time, but once it happens again I have to restart my box. It never recovers after the first time. It doesn't seem to matter what the game is, it has happened on something as easy to run as Aces High II and with Skyrim. I noticed it takes much longer to happen when I turn off antialiasing or anthro filtering, but I'm kinda at a loss. All my video drivers are updated, hopefully someone here has had a similar problem and can help. I'm kinda new to all this, but here is part of my dxdiag. what is your exact model of GTX570? have you done any OC with your card?

It's a Galaxy GeForce GTX570 1280MB GDDR5 memory vid card(that's what the box says, if you meant something else let me know! I am new lol). No overclocking on cpu or gfx card at all. I installed CoreTemp and so far my cpu hasn't gone above 50c, and CPUID is showing the graphics card at 50c

So yea it's saying my card is staying around 50c and my cpu is hovering around 35c. How do I do a clean driver install? I've just been using the nvidia software to keep it up to date. Have been getting the same problem before and after updating drivers. And thanks for trying to help me out, I know how annoying it can be at times to help someone who isn't very learned in a subject you are out. Much appreciated!

nvidia driver installer have clean driver install option when you install the driver but you can also 3rd party program like driver sweeper to make clean driver install (but you have to uninstall the the driver first before run the program). is it 50c is your idle temp? what is your temp when the gpu under full load?

That's the temp it's showing right now, I have skyrim running while I respond to posts. The log is showing the max it's ever gotten was 67c(gxf card) and the cpu at 45c. I have cooled air that is around 3c being forced into the box, it stays pretty cool no matter what. The high on the cpu was after running Prime95 for 3 hours. Just wish I could play Skyrim reliably :(

the idle temp is a bit high but load temp are fine. if driver re-installation can't fix the problem i'm afraid you might need to RMA your card.

I really appreciate your help with this, thanks. I've ordered a new card from newegg, hopefully it is just a defective card and the new one will fix the problems. I was hoping it was an easy tweak fix. Ah well, glad it happened sooner than later if it is the card.
