I will use this computer for gaming and no overclocking the CPU but maybe the gpu. Please tell me if these parts will play high settings on games without overclocking the CPU.

CPU i5 2400

Gpu radeon 6870

Recommend mother board

Hitachi 500 gb hard drive

Gaming ram 8gb 30$

Recommend case

Recommend psu

Any DVD drive.

Will this do high settings on games I have a budget of 630 and less

Should I get the i3 ?

Looks good, an i3 2100 would suffice but an i5 2400 would be ideal if you can afford it.

Here's a good case that you could use.

Here's a nice PSU for future upgrades.

I'm not highly intelligent on mobos but if you don't plan on overclocking get a H61 or H67 chipset so you can save a little bit of cash.

Most don't reccomend overclocking on the fan that comes with it being even unoverclocked the i5 2500k is a tough nut to crack so without it its still king for gaming at the moment (i hope amd can give us more options soon).

A 6870 and i5 2400 will run BF3 at high/max settings at a solid 60FPS. But if you could get a little bit extra cash a 2500k would be great, only thing is you'd have to pay more for a mobo with a P67 or Z68 chip inside of it to take advantage of the K part. If you do overclock a new heatsink would probably be a must, the one that comes with it isn't that great to be honest.

Here's one that's good for light overclocking: 212

The i5 2500k is the best gaming cpu right now with the best price performance ratio but costs a little bit more you can generally get it on sell now at a microcenter if you have one close by.

As I said, an i5 2400 or 2500k would be ideal, but an i3 2100 will suffice.
A 6870 would work fine and will run most games on high or max.
