I've got a Videologic SonicStorm (PCI) card, with the standard input connections, (CD in, aux in, video in) - is there any way i can connect both of my CD drives to the soundcard, without splicing the inputs together?

If your cdrom is capable of DAE then you don't need any cables if you enable "digital cd playback" (win2k terminology but win98 should be similar). You'll get better sound and won't need any cables. Go to the "sounds and multimedia" section of control panel and look around, you'll find the area where you can check a box and enable the digital mode. If the box is greyed out then your sol...so pick a cdrom for audio cd's and hook up the cable.
