HELP! Thermal Paste on side of CPU and motherboard

I was building my first computer yesterday and I got some of the thermal paste included with my Hyper 212 EVO onto the green part of my i5 3570K. Not on the bottom, but I guess the side? I also got some of the compound on the motherboard but outside of the socket. Will either pose as problems? I read if the compound is nonconductive, it won't be a problem, but I'm not sure if the included thermal paste is conductive or not.

Check the thermal paste ingredients. Some are conductive. Either way I'd clean it ASAP

I did and it started up okay with no damage...hopefully nothing ends up happening in the long run.
