Could I Upgrade to this CPU?

Hello, I was wondering if I could use this CPU (AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor) with my current PC setup.

M2N61-AR (Acacia) motherboard
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit
NIVIDA GeForce 9500 GT 1GB
RAM: 1918 MB

If not, could I perhaps settle for the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.8 GHz?

AMD Athlon II X2 250 does not look like a good match.

And AMD Athlon II X2 250 is a different socket altogether.

    So what are my options?

  7. It's ADO5600IAA5DO part number and it says its 65W. That would work.

Thank you Sir/Ma'am. Very much appreciated! Will this CPU let me run the latest games at a tolerable frame rate?
(Let me remind you that my specs are:
    Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit
    NIVIDA GeForce 9500 GT 1GB
    RAM: 1918 MB)
  9. It's a major upgrade from your LE-1620.

All the latest games at 'tolerable frame rate'? Questionable.
You might have to adjust graphics settings and resolution to get smooth frame rates.

Well I'll narrow it down, becuase I have games now that I can run with no lag, I'll just tackle the hard ones.
How bout GTA 4, and L.A. Noire?

  12. You'll be OK there....
I was thinking more like Metro 2033 and Battlefield 3.

Oh I don't own those games. But are you sure on the LA Noire? I heard that it was a very poor port to PC and that even a very modern and powerful PC will lag with it.
  14. It is a demanding game but the minimum specs are pretty low

    LA Noire Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows XP SP3, Vista SP1, Windows 7
CPU: Intel Dual Core 2.2 GHz / AMD Dual Core 2.4 GHz
    RAM: 2 GB
    GFX: GeForce 8600 512 MB / Radeon HD 3000 Series 512 MB

Oh ok, thanks man, you've been a big help when there was no one else to help me!
  16. You're very close to the minimum specs there.
A good chance you won't be happy with the way that game runs, even on low settings.

Be sure to check for LA Noire fan websites that have ideas on how to best tweak the settings to make the game enjoyable.
