8800gt aproblems

Hi,
I've been having some porblems wih my graphics card ( at least i thinks thats the reason).
Sometimes my pc freezes up, and missrendered pixels or artifacts appear, the only way out of it is to reeboot.

do i have to buy a new graphics card?

If you did try new drivers, cleaning the heatsink, monitor temperatures and that didn't help i'm afraid it is a dying card.

When does it happen, gaming ? after some time or at any moment ?

well i was gonna say that so far it only happened once while in "idle" mode but the same thing happened when i was writing the reply so i reebooted and worte this instead lol

Lol, then it's the ghost in the machine i'm afraid.

It probably isn't a heat problem then, still ; did you ever clean the card ?

yeah, ive been having some memory problems too and today i updated my bios and changed the ram modules again, the whole system seamed clean. also i didnt say this earlier because it has been having this problem for a few days now both with the old bios and the older memory modules, the memory problems ive been having were also freezes but there were never artifacts like in the image ive shown.

happened again in idle, all i had open was skype and firefox, this time i could notice that i actualy am not freezing, i can move my mouse arround, slower and the collor scheme pixels are all messed up

i'd say step one is a good cleaning, remove the shroud and heatsink
wipe the sink off and clean up the fan clean off the old thermal paste and apply new stuff.

I had some isssues like this with an 88gt single slot xfx and cleaning fixed it up really nice.
