Mini-HDMI?

I just got a new 580 GTX card and was trying to hook my monitor to it through the HDMI connector when I realized the card comes with a HDMI mini plug. Can anyone tell me why there is even an HDMI mini plug??? It angers me that they might have just done this to sell more cables unless there's a legitimate reason for it. Now I have to use the DVI until I purchase either an adapter or buy a whole new cable. Just annoying when I have 3 HDMI cables just laying around ready to use.

The mini-hdmi is to save space and leave more space for the vent on the back of the card. Some companies include the adapter, while others do not. Some cards even have the full size plugs and a smaller vent on the back.

Even my 460 came with an adapter. I'm surprised your übercard didn't. Reason ^+1.

oh ok..so the reason is to just reduce space. I guess that makes sense. I'm kind of weird about using adapters...I always prefer a full cable instead of using adapters with things like graphics or internet connections...I like knowing its a full, pure connection. I'll just order a cable.

Thanks for clearing that up. Makes more sense now.
