Dropbox is great, but it's also limited to 2GB (at least for the free account). And those files are co-located on each computer and synchronized by the Dropbox service.

Another solution is LogMeIn Hamachi. In this case, you create a VPN between computers and make ANYTHING sharable across the Internet (files, printers, even services (e.g., RDP, VNC, FTP, HTTP, you name it)). No file limits, nothing to synchronize, and files don't need to be moved to an agreed upon location (dropbox) to be shared (particularly important if what you’re trying to share is that 1TB audio/video collection on your desktop/server/NAS).

So each is a great solution, but they solve slightly different problems wrt sharing, and bring pluses and minuses depending upon your needs. I use both, but for different purposes.
