heres my current set up

i3 2120
8gb 2gbx4 kingston
ocz 500w
Intel BOXDH67BLB3 LGA 1155 Intel H67 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
500gb hdd 7200rpm
sony dvdrw

my question is what video card would be ideal in the low $100 range or would i have to drop more monies to get a card thats more powerfull to avoid bottlenecking etcetc.

i have everything except the video card and theres SOOO many options im not sure which route to go. im a nvidia guy btw.

Yea the GTX 550 ti is a good card. The GTS 450 is basically the 550 ti except if you can find one now itd be cheaper. and can probably play Counter strike on Medium or high

get a 6850...check slickdeals.net and newegg / tigerdirect for deals...you can find this in the low $100's any where from $99-$130.

This will be the best bang for the buck.

as ive hinted at i am on a budget and the 550 ti would be the highest i would go. is it worth the extra money if im just playing source games and other less demanding titles or is a 550 overkill?

I would go for it, if you can afford it without breaking the bank get the best you can. You never know what you will want to play 6 months from now, better to have the extra power just in case.

something below 550Ti is never recommended for playing...in case you would like to play a real game :)
