I'm building a new Windows 7 desktop system but I want to keep my old Dell 24-inch 4:3 monitor since it's better for displaying web pages than the 16:9 widescreen monitors.

However, I cant seem to find any PCI Express video cards that explicitly state support for the 1600x1200 resolution on my Dell 24" monitor.

Do all modern PCI Express video cards support 1600x1200 ---- or just the 16:9 widescreen resolutions??

I tried to download the documentation for different brands of video cards but none of them state supported resolution of 1600x1200.

Appreciate the help!

OK thanks --- do you know if PCI Express cards support 1600x1200 through the DVI ports as well as the VGA ports?

My Dell 24 monitor has DVI so I want to make sure my new video card can output 1600x1200 through that connection.

Sorry to open up a dead thread, but mightymaxio is not correct. I am an IT administrator / Consultant. In my company we ordered for a project serveral client desktops. These client desktops come with a standard graphics card onboard. The Intel Graphics 4400. This graphics card supports up to 1920x1080. Yet the 1600x1200 resolution is not there when you adjust the resolution.

So just simply saying if the resolution is exceeding 1600x1200 it supports the resolution because you "downgrade it", is not true
