installed drivers from disc (2 years old) and also downloaded
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/rad...
CPU
AMD Athlon II X3 3.4ghz
No drivers installed manually
RAM
G.Skill Ripjaws 4gb*2 1333ghz
No drivers installed manually
Motherboard
ASUS M4A78LT-M LE
downloaded drivers from
http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A78LTM_LE/#do...
but all the drivers i download, when i run the exe, it asks if i want to install, when i do it just closes...
if you need anymore information just let me know, cheers

OK! Now we are making some good progress.
-Your CPU is overclocked. I'm guessing this was not done by you but was done by the software you installed from the disk.
-Your PSU is dangerous and extremely low quality. It is not capable of running your system, even if it was not overclocked.
0. Buy a good PSU. See the PSU guide link in my signature. You need a quality PSU, at least 380W.... more would be good for future upgrades.
1. Uninstall any and all Asus utilities. These usually cause more headaches than they are worth.
2. Adjust the settings in your BIOS. Probably best to reset to default settings. Consult your manual.
3. Update the BIOS to the latest version. Yours is two years behind the latest. Be very careful to follow directions exactly, as an error can cause your board to become useless.
4. At this point you may need to run a repair on the OS or re-install.

I haveent touched the motherboard BIOS at all, so if its OCed then its the bios that has done it, so should i update the BIOS? also i will get a higher PSU soon, i also have no ASUS utilities
P.S.

Okidoki, well i just downloaded the ASUS BIOS updated, and when i went to install it replied "no ASUS motherboard detected"... so do you think this PSU would be ok?

Best solution
Also you have an ASrock board, not an Asus board (though ASrock is made by Asus). According the CPU-z you have this:

No - look for something made by Corsair, XFX, Seasonic or Silverstone. Preferably 80 PLUS certified.

Whoa. And here I was feeling all proud of myself
Nice catch! Here is the right BIOS page

And here is a good cheap PSU in the UK

k im abit lost
, while i was away i just tried something small, i unplugged the wireless PCI card and a huge fan at the front of the case, i loaded skyrim with low graphics, 5mins and boom, it closed and everything went weird, now i come back and a new guy called Inanition02 is here, hello there, k so what should i do first? what would the best step be? get a new PSU? also that corsair is only 430watt, this is 500watt, why would i go for lower power?
my motherboard isnt
http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview. [...] 85gmh/128m
is
http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A78LTM_LE/#do...
BUT that picture is identical to what i actually have lololol
also what do you mean by the MB catch?

Good manufacturers often underrate their PSUs (a 430W corsair may put out 460W), but bad no-names underrate (so your 500W may put out 350W average).
And immediately plug the fan back in, uninstall anything Asus and stop gaming on it until you get a new PSU in there. Stressing the system with a bad PSU can ruin the mobo/gpu/cpu.
Get a new PSU and update the BIOS from the Asrock link provided above. You have an Asrock board, not an Asus board. Once the BIOS is flashed, install the Asrock drivers.
This motherboard thing is making me question other items: Did you use the standard heatsink fan for the CPU? Is the CPU fan plugged in? What thermal paste?

Take a pic of your mobo and post it - I bet you it's the Asrock.

I just ran the BIOS update, it did what it needed to do, but when it restarted, it came up with CMOS checksum bad, press F1 for settings or F2 for something
i pressed F1 for settings and it took me to BIOS, i pressed save and exit, it then reset and now im back here, but does this actually mean it updated? or not?
In CPU-z it shows the BIOS is now 1.50 not 1.40

Sounds like it updated - when you boot up now do you still get that error? Does CPU-z still show the 3.7ghz or 3.4 ghz?
it shows 3392.5ghz so i think its worked
