Hello,

I need a video card recommendation for Battlefield 3. I'm looking at this one: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=61197 or this one http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58303&vpn=N560GTX-TI%20Tw...

What is the difference? And how well would it be able to run Battlefield 3?

thanks

560Ti will struggle (none 448 version).
Change that 2400 for a 2500k.
All else will be good.

Assuming he doesn't already have the 2400.. If he does, no need to upgrade that.

Yes it's a nice card ;)

Ok, and what about the PSU. Is 600watts enough for that card plus everything else?

Thanks!!

You guys have been very helpful.

One more question though... what about cooling. Should I have to worry about that? I have this case (Coolmaster Centurion something: http://www.techfuels.com/attachments/cpu-components/589...

There is one large fan near the rear and one exhaust vent for the CPU.

That is the case i use for my AMD rig and it is a very good case.
Cooling wont matter too much as the 2400 cannot overclock ;)

Does the Radeon HD 6950 have a VGA output? I need to use a VGA LCD monitor for starters. I looked at the picture and it does not look like it, but the specs seem to say so?

thanks!!

Is it necessary to test the PSU voltage before plugging everything in? I don't have a tester. :(

He would have been happy playing bf3 with either one of those 2 cards he was originally inquiring about. You guys are going to be recommending $500 dollar cards by the end of this thread.

Really ?
@OP
The 2400 is a sweet CPU accept it for what it is, it can't bee OCed due to the locked multi.
Even the GTX 560 (non ti) can play the BF3 @ ultra but it won't be so smooth like with the ti version or above models.
So in most cases you're good to go.

Well, doesn't bf3s "Ultra" setting include AA and AF? I saw someone posting that it did but im not sure

But honestly unless you are fine with spending 200+ then just lower some settings down one notch, like shadows or sunshafts :)

most of the cards looked at here will play BF3 very comfortably at ultra settings (1920x1080) with reduced/disabled AA, all other settings can stay at ultra

Yeah, it concerned me that they were suggesting such high end cards, kinda making me wonder what their definition of ultra is... like 8x AA, MSAA, AF, etc....

I play on ultra except I turned of AA. My GTX 470 runs it fine at 1920x1200.

Ok so I ordered the Radeon HD 6950. Does anyone know how well it will perform in SWTOR with my system specs?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say I built the PC and everything is running 100%. I'm able to play BF3 on high-ultra settings.

Thanks for all your help.
