I have

Corsair 750w
i7 bloomfield 920 2.66ghz
6GB RAM
GTX 260
WD 7500 RPM 1TB HDD
Gigabyte EX58-UD4P x58 Chipset

I need one of those directx11 ones, but I can't decide and I don't know if it'll work on my mobo, or do I have to flash my mobo

I'm in-between gtx570 vs Ati 6970 - I heard 6970 rules 570 but Nvidia has better drivers than ATI.

Which one would you pick for my rig?

Go with the 570 and it will work fine on your mobo.

Both cards' prices are past the point of diminishing returns - best bang for your buck is an HD 6870 or a GTX 560Ti - both will play all games on high at 1080p.

High you mean MAX settings or just "high" not ultra

570 can do ultra with 4xmsaa enabled.
6970 ultra without 4xmsaa.
560Ti high with no AA.

In that case gtx 570 is better overall?

I use my GTX 560 Ti on Skyrim to play it on max settings with around 45-50 fps. Also, Battlefield 3 works on Ultra with MSAA x2 single player. Didn't try multiplayer since I only play those kind of games for the story (which sucked tbh :( ).

What game are you referring to and what res + fps? BF3? Crysis 2 DX11? A 560ti can play any game on ultra at 1080p @ 30+ fps with various degrees of antialiasing.

johnkx, are you playing at 1080p? And you might want to overclock that i7, you'll get significantly more performance in skyrim. http://www.techspot.com/review/467-skyrim-performance/p...

both 6970 and 570 will do fine.it depends on games you play.some games perform better on radeons whereas some perform better on nvidias.go which you find cool and
cheaper.i would suggest MSi cause i am a bit partial for them(not a fanboy)cause they have really good cooling and overclocking IMO.

i'm planning to OC it but I'm seeing different ways of OC'ing I don't know which one to use.

and yes I play on 1080p

I'd say go for the 560ti (can be had for a little over $200 US right now). One with good cooling can overclock up to the 570's stock performance.

6970 or 570 will both fine. It depends on personal preference.

I mean, by all means go for the 570 or 6970 if you have $350 laying around.

I'm just saying your performance won't be dramatically better than a card that's 35% cheaper. After the 560ti you hit diminishing returns - 50% more in price for 12% more performance just doesn't make sense to me.
