I was trying to deceide between the 8080 and the 828, the 828 seemed to
offer better qualilty construction and components. Here's a link to a
site about a small detail that the review sites curiously never talk
about.

Well, that's a load of old drivel, innit?

So, no need to mention the glued plastic mirror assemblies on Canon 300's
and 350's that come unstuck in a heat-wave?, and let's not talk about those
D70's 'dying' by the container load due to defective FCB's
The only camera manufacturer, selling in the UK, who has the confidence to
offer a two year warranty is Olympus.

They may be the only ones that need to do so?

I have some experience with the build quality of the Sony 828. After a long
day, I grabbed some stuff in the back seat of my car, pulled it out, and
heard the sound of plastic and metal hitting the garage floor. It was the
828, and it took a fall to concrete of about three feet. Scratches on the
lens hood, left shoulder, and base were the only result. It still works
perfectly.
Yes, it's a well made camera.

I guess the automobile counterpart to Olympus 2 year warranty would be
the KIA car with a 10 year warranty - I guess the KIA must be a really
well built car.
