well the socket on my mobo says am2

Find a compatible 95w TDP CPU.

For what it's worth, the only info I can find about that board says it's AM3, but if it really is AM2, the you'll have to find an AM2 95W TDP CPU.

Regardless, it's an OEM board that was never really meant to be upgraded much anyway. You'll almost definitely need a BIOS update for any replacement CPU.

so do u think this will work? AMD Athlon II X3 450 Rana 3.2GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core

Phenom II X4 840 (3.2GHz)
Athlon II X4 650, 645, 640, 635, 630, 620
Phenom II 705e, 700e
Athlon II x3 405e, 400e
Sempron 140, 145
Athlon II x2 215, 240e, 235e, 255, 250, 245, 240, 260u, 250u, 160u, 150u

That's the full supported CPU list, so not much to choose from, unfortunately. A VERY limited board, to be honest. There may be more supported by a BIOS update, but you'll have to check and see.

If the BIOS supports it, that should work, yes. Like I said in the post above, it doesn't SAY that it supports it, but it SHOULD work (just maybe with a BIOS update).
