First to launch was just about the only feather in Toshiba's cap. I
have the feeling they're seeing the writing on the wall, and are just
easing into a slow concession of defeat.

Yeah, it's looking more and more like it's time to stick a fork in HD-DVD. I
guess Sony had to get lucky with a media format once in its history.
But the sooner one format dies, the better. Less confusion, less splitting
of the market, and Sony will happily sell you a Blu-ray player for the price
of a game console.
