I'm in the process of planning my gaming computer. I'm wondering whether I should get the AMD Bulldozer FX-4100 or i5-2500K?

Bearing in mind that If I get the AMD, I might be able to get a GTX670 or even a GTX680...

So would you recommend the i5 - 2500k with the ATI Radeon 7870
Or AMD Bulldozer FX-4100 with the GTX670 or even the GTX680?

Man, that's actually a tough choice. The 2500K system would be the better all around system (by FAR), but the FX-4100 system (especially with a 680) will probably be a slightly better pure gaming system. The only problem I can envision there is the FX-4100 bottle necking either the 670 or 680 (never seen a bench with a 4100 and a 670 or 680, so I don't really know for sure).

FX-4100 will bottleneck those cards.

A system is all about balance, the most balanced setup would be the 2500k and 7870 (high end with high end) but the FX-4100 and 680 (Low end and high end) would be an unbalanced setup.

I plan on gaming with it, so I would need the best gaming solution possible. I'm on a strict budget so wouldn't really be able to go higher than the i5 with maybe a 670, which if the money come will be my first choice. I was just curious as I don't really know the difference between AMD and Intel.

The 2500K with a 670 would be a pretty beast gaming machine (not the absolute best, but damn good).
