Decent mid range Graphic Card?

Hey guys!

I am planning on building a new rig with these specs:

-Intel core i5 2500k

-ASUS P8Z68 PRO / ASUS P8P67 PRO

-Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHZ 8GB DDR3

-Corsair 500W PSU

-Seagate Baracuda 1TB HDD

-Samsung 24" LED Monitor

I will be playing games like DotA, DotA 2 (Valve), Assassins Creed etc. (Not high demanding games).
Is the embedded GPU on the processor enough for me or do i need an external Graphic Card?

Should be sufficient for you. If you don't mind About cooling, choose the the non IceQX one for a cheaper price.

  2. What are you looking to spend? $130 can get a 550Ti that will easily do what you need, or $110 for an ATi 6770. Either card would be worth the expense, especially if you are on a budget.

$130 GIGABYTE GV-N550OC-1GI GeForce GTX 550 Ti ($20 MIR)(plays skyrim nicely, have the ASUS version in my mini)

    $110 HIS H677FN1GD Radeon HD 6770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 ($10 MIR, free Dirt 3)
  3. You'll definitely want a discrete GPU at 1080p. Get at least a Radeon 6850

Look at the games he want to play. I think that is a less demanding games and 6850 is too much.

If i have to spend then I was thinking on the lines of a 6790 (I think it's the entry level 256 bit) or maybe the GTX 460. Is the 6770 better?
  6. 6870 $139 after rebate. A lot more future-proofing for $20.

  7. Alright! Thanks :)

And should i go for Corsair Gaming Series 600 or the Corsair CX Series 500?
  8. If you plan Overclocking then I recommend Corsair GS600. I don't like Corsair CX500 for such system so much but, It is not bad. You might consider this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094 instead of CX500 because it has Bronze 80 Plus certification.
  9. Alright I think i'll stick to the GS600 then :)

    Thanks for the feedback everyone!
