Mobo issue

Recently switched out some new parts on my system, and bought some others to keep the old one running.
after putting it all back together the old system isn't booting

i7 950
rampage 3 extreme
12gb 1600mhz
1000w psu
xfx 5970

when its all plugged in and switched on the mobo has all its normal lights on but it doesn't boot, tried both bios settings, clearing cmos, different psu, gfx card and ram. still no luck any ideas??
