It's still a decent little setup, though the Q6600 is not going to hold much longer, especally considering that most games (which is what i assume you're doing) are not yet coded to utilize more then two cores most of the time, and by the time that day comes the Q6600 will be far gone, as it's already obsolete and not powerful enough to truly run with todays games.

Pretty good cpu cooler, so you can consider overclocking if you want.

What do use your computer for? should be fine for 1080p gaming on relatively high settings for a while.

I just upgraded to a solid state drive, and its awesome, love the quick boot times and game loading times, so you could consider it :D

actually i use it for mostly basic stuff.i rip and burn dvds, very light gaming, and heavy internet surfing with mostly youtube.

Then have at it. ;)

If i had money to spend on new hardware i'd be doing the same.

Hold out till april before upgrading.

I think we are all in the same boat. I built an i5-2500 rig with SSD just for the heck of it. You can check my configuration for my awesome set-up. :sol:

my suggestions is get an i3 or pentiumG860 and a good ivybridge supported board and hold out for the next few months ;)

Is this a new(er) computer or older. If it's older I wouldn't dump to much into it. It's not bad but the Core 2 Duo is getting up there in age and will be obsolete soon. I would save up for Ivy Bridges and upgrade when it is released.

yes this computer is about 5 years old now.it was originally a core 2 duo e6300,which i still have.i upgraded to a q6600 c2q.i have the original intel board as well, but upgraded to gigabyte.it is still pretty fast for me now.i say you can never have enough power lol.i wanted to get the new chipset motherboards so i have full compatibility

Reply to kamui4697

That chipsets and socket is pretty much dead. I would upgrade to a socket 1155 paired with a Z68 chipsets. It's the latest chipsets until and will be backwards compatible with Ivy Bridges.

i know it is considered obsolete, but as i said its still plenty fast for me.i can wait a few months for ivy bridge.i would rather have the new chipset when it is released.
