Would PC100 (or PC133 for that matter) memory work in a Compaq P166 computer with a 66MHz FSB? Did all P166's use SDRAM, or did some still use EDO?

You might want to contact Compaq Tech support and ask them what type of memory to use when upgrading.
Theoretically, PC100 and PC133 RAM is backward compatible with PC66, but some brand name systems (e.g. Compaq) are very picky and will not recognize the DIMM properly.

I think i is psssible for PC 133/100 work in a PC 66 computer system. But the PC 133/100 SDRAM will only work at 66 MHz,not 133MHz.Also, in the year of the P-166 ,it may be use the SDRAM.

Yes, you can use PC 100 in a PC 66 DIMM slot, and yes there are EDO's on Pentium motherboards. I have SIMM only slots on my old Pre-MMX Pentium motherboard, and SIMMs/DIMMs on a MMX motherboard.

Thanks everyone....it turns out it was a regular (non-MMX) P166 that still uses EDO...and since EDO is like $80 for 64mb, I decided to leave it alone. Turns out Win2k Advanced Server works fine on 80MB of ram...screw the 128mb minimum.
