How to disable onboard graphics on HPE 500z?

I am upgrading my graphics card from a radeon HD 6450 to a 6850.

I am supposed to disable any on board video memory on my motherboard. How to do this is supposedly in the manual but... well... I don't have it.

I have an HPE 500z (Athlon II x4 460 if that helps)

how do I do this? and is it really necessary?

If you alerady have a discrete card, just remove it and plug the new card in.

Motherboards with builtin graphics generally recognize the presence of a discrete video card and automatically disable the on board graphics.
