Problem with vpn from windows xp to 7

im trying to vpn to a network connection. The network is setup with windows 7 and the computer im on has windows xp. I have the Ip address, user name and password...how do I log on?

Start-->Run, type "ncpa.cpl" (no quotes) and hit Enter. Select "Create a new connection" from the left menu, which will bring up the New Connection Wizard. Select "Connect to the network at my workplace", select"Virtual Private Network connection", and just work your way through the configuration (name it, add the IP address, security, etc.).
