Hey, just replaced my system with ddr3 memory from ddr2 and realised that it only supports it with an AM3 CPU.

So instead of returning the memory I thought I'd bite the bullet and upgrade the CPU from a AMD Phenom x4 9950 Black Edition to a AMD 960T Black Edition 3.0GHz Socket AM3 (as listed on eBuyer).

Is this CPU any better than the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 considering eBuyer has £2 difference?

Also, if anyone can suggest a good motherboard as I will be looking to buy a new one in a few months...

Many Thanks :)

Both are good CPUs,

The 965 BE can be Ocd to 3.8 to 4.2 ghz on a decent air cooler.

The 960T can be OCd to 4 to 4.4 ghz on air and/or unlocked to a six core CPU on a decent air cooler with a decent mobo.

At stock settings the 965 BE is the better CPU.

Thanks man, Mobo seems reasonable priced.

Though now I'm faced with my CPU choices?

AMD Bulldozer FX-8 8120 3.1Ghz Socket AM3+ (Probably too pricey)

AMD FX-6 6100 Black Edition 6 Core 3.3Ghz Socket AM3+
