Range extender wireless configure without connecting to the router

Hello this is a question about configuring a wireless range extender. In this case its the Hawking 300N but this question may apply to other such devices. I have a home in a resort and they give us wireless access to their internet via a wireless router located in the community office. However, our unit is right on the edge of coverage. If you sit near the window you can get a connection with a laptop. I want to use this extender BUT I cannot get access to their router to plug in and configure. Is there a way to configure the extender without actually getting access to the physical router? Thanks to all who respond.

Thank you for the suggestion. However, I have not been able to find any detail on doing the configuration as a bridge repeater.
All instruction so far require that I connect the device to the network via cable to configure.
