Hi this is my first build so i would like you guys to look over it and tell me suggestions

Approximate purchase:whenever intel decides to realse ivy bridge

System usage most to least important: mainly gaming a lil video editing here and there

Parts not required: keyboard, mouse, os, montior, speakers

Preferred website(s) for parts : newegg.com, tigerdirect.com or anyplace that gets the job done cheap

Overclocking: defiantly yes

sli: maybe 2 in the far future when my graphics are becoming outdated

Additional commments: i will be waiting for the ivy bridge motherboards and cpus also the nvida 600 series so i will use there products they have now to use a baseline price for them

SSD:
i have been looking at the ocz agility http://tigerdirect.com/application [...] CatId=5300

becuse its cheap and gets some decent reviews not as fast as the vertex but ive been told alot u really will only tell the diffrence in major uncompressable data and when benchmarking

motherboard:

the ivy bridge ones are not out yet so ill say just say it will be around 180 for one??? idk yet

Cpu:
well this is where i have a big question i will be using ivy bridge here so

will a i5 3550k be sufficent to play games for the next 4 years or so or will i need to get an i7 3770k for that and the prices for these are just what the sandy bridge is priced for atm

i5= $220
i7=$320

Graphics card:

i will be using nvidia's new 600 series line but i will use a 660ti or a 670 not sure

but for these i will alot $250 for it it can be raised or lowered accounding to recomendation by you guys

cpu cooler: i will be using the corsair h100
i will get this were ever is the cheapest at amazon its $103
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005FOVCCG

Case: i will be using the Rosewill thor cause my computer is "godly" lol good joke
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811147053
from the reviews ive read about theres very minamal complaints about this thing
and it will support corsair h100 plus mega fans

Thermal paste: the stock on the h100 is good enough accounrding to other people

Ram : corsair vengeance 1600mhz 8 gb is enough right cause over that ive been told is overkill
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820233144
$ 50 not much to talk about here

PowerSupply: well i found this on sale told my parents not sure if they got it or not if they didnt recomend away if they did oh well

its the rosewill capstone gold 650watt if ther got it it would have been at $80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817182071
idk if its enough for sli but the way nvidia is planning to reduce there power consumption i think it may be

Blu-ray drive
an asus blu-ray drive idc what blu-ray drive i get as long as cheap and works
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6827135247
$50 dollars

ok here comes the part i probally dont need

* 120mm fans scythe slipstream "got a discount in bulk 7 a pop amazing for these lil suckers"
and they really pump some air lol
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835185060
$63.92
*not going to replace the 200mm fan in the front of the case cause i dont think its too neccisary lol*

And to controll all those fan i want more than the fan controller the case provides for functionallty and asthetics of course lol if not neccasary just tell me and i can make it cheaper or get rids of it but i like this one if any recomendations tell me

Lamptron Fc6 black $50 bucks "expensive i know but u get what u pay for i believe can find cheaper"
http://www.amazon.com/Lamptron-Bla [...] B003QJME5G

and thats about all for this folks im wrapping up without a grand total cause 1 im lazy 2 i have to leave in about 1 minute for school and yah
so comment grade my build suggest do whatever u like
plus i may ask later about some gaming keyboards or suchsorts k ty for your time its very well appreciate by this noob bye

Get Crucial M4 SSDs. They are more reliable.

:hello:

First off if this build is primarily for gaming then I wouldn't even think of getting a LGA2011 build. Go with a 1155 build and get a hyper threading enabled cpu like the 2000K for your video editing, or wait for Ivy Bridge.

And yes the 1155 boards that say Gen 3 are set up for Ivy Bridge and PCI-E 3.0.

http://www.asrock.com/microsite/PCIe3/overview.html <----- This gives you a quick overview of the Gen 3 boards in regards to PCI-E 3.0 and Ivy Bridge.

btw those Rosewill psu's aren't worth the metal they are made with. Their too light for a boat anchor, and too expensive for a door stop and/or paper weight.

Quality brand psu's...not necessarily in any order are: Seasonic, Enermax, Silverstone, Antec, Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, upper tier LEPA and XFX.

and ive got a noob question since i plan on having a lot of airflow in case about 10 fans our so each doing at least 100cfm would it be better to have a aircooler instead of a liquid cooling system like the h100 i was just thinking about this and wanted to know if it is true or not

thank u very much for the qualty brands of the psu

From what Iv'e gathered these Ivy Bridge cpu's will run just as cool if not cooler than the Sandy Bridge cpu's. If that's the case then no need for water cooling. But I would wait for the reviews on those cpu's to make that choice. Power usage, heat, over clocking, etc... will all be in the initial reviews of those Ivy Bridge cpu's.

well i will overclock them some too but i just want to know what is better if u have a lot of fans in ur case and i believe 4 of them are blowing on the cpu in this case would it be better to have a solution like the corsair h100 or a noctua nh-d14?? its a question becuse the noctua is only about 4 degrees above the corsair h100 and if the fans would lower that i would consider the noctua
February 6, 2012 11:18:37 PM

so in short my question is here should i go with the noctua nh-d14 or the corsiar h100 i honestly cant decide even tho the noctua is 30 bucks cheaper
