The 2gb just helps when using multi-monitor set-ups. The hd6950 is best unless you want to upgrade your PSU. The thing about that is when you have something with higher clocks and the same RAM, it might not be equivalent to another card. See, the Radeon HD6870 generally has a core clock of 900MHz. That may seem better than the lower 800MHz 6950, right? No. The thing is, while the 6870 has a clock of 900MHz, it has only 1120 processing cores (think of those like a dual-core or quad-core cpu, with more cores) The 6950 on the other hand, has a lower clock of 800MHz, but puts it through 1408 processing cores, making it much faster than the 6870. Also, the Radeon 6870 has a memory clock of 4200MHz, while the Radeon 6950 has a memory speed of 5000MHz. The memory runs much faster.
