Another bug?

Best answer won't be there if the thread wasn't made a Question. If it's a Poll or Discussion thread there is no logical reason for a "best answer".

Maybe it's a sign that they're working on the new platform which, hopefully, takes away all the problems of the UK site and unifies us all under one banner, speaking a curious form of English called A-m-e-r-i-c-a-n. :D Bet they wish they'd nevert left our Empire in the first place.

Which of these threads do you want to provide a best answer to and we'll switch it to a question thread for you? All your other threads are question threads and should be showing the best answer button for each post.

But those that don't want to ask questions, but who forget to change the type, would receive emails asking them to select a best answer repeatedly until they do. The least "intrusive" option should be the default IMO.
