I keep looking at all the comparison from this site here

http://www.hwcompare.com/9049/geforce-gtx-570-vs-radeon-hd-5850/

And compare card after card..

I am building my system now

I5 2500k
8 gig of ram
SSD
nice Mobo

But the video card is my last stop..

It will be for gaming, and some small business stuff..

I have a friend that has a 5850 video card, he will sell it to me for 100 bucks, which seems fair.

But everything I look at thats around 200 bucks doesnt seem to compare with the 5850..

Is this worth it you guys think?

If not whats a better card for a cheap price?

Thanks!

Get 5850 that your friend has. Make sure it works and it works and compatible with your system. The performance of the 5850 is comparable to 6870 or 6850 which cost about $150-$200. So You are pretty lucky to have a chance to get it for $100 which will give you a 25%-50% discount. If you want something more then I recommend you to get 6950 or 560 Ti which cost about $250, but this is something only if you want. And the last thing is that make sure your friend are not tricking you :D.

Thanks for the reply..
NO no.. My friend is the real deal.. 5850 for 100 bucks.. Perfect condition !

Whats weird is the 5850 shows to be on par if not better than the 560 ti when compared to that site I linked

http://www.hwcompare.com/8916/geforce-gtx-560-ti-vs-radeon-hd-5850/

There is it..

I'm just hoping the 5850 is good enough to play most games on high settings..

Note that hwcompare is just comparing the specification and fps in one or two games. This therefore is not a reliable site when you want to compare something. If you are not sure about how 5850 perform, check this review http://www.techspot.com/review/206-his-radeon-hd-5850/

They say it is a nice GPU and should run games on high settings.
