Hi all I have a E8400 cpu, right now ti's at 37 core #0 and 40 core #1 which is on idle
When I play games such Arma 2, world of warcraft, it reaches 50 C

But my problem isn't the computer..its the weather! It's been fine until now, and since my flat is bakkkingg (windows and fan open) my computers ambient temp is also up making the cpu warmer...

My question is:

Is it bad for my CPU to run at this temp and should I be forced to close down my computer in hot weather like this?

Or is it ok to run the computer as normal, knowing that it isn't run 24/7 like this and is only like this because of the weather?

More about : reaching e8400 cpu

50C is perfect, cool even. Tcase (max package temp) is 72.4C and Tjmax (max core temp) is 100C, so you're FAR from needing to worry.

Even going over 72.4C isn't THAT bad. 80C+ is when you need to worry.

DJDeCiBeL is totally right. But still if you're worried you could get an aftermarket cooler to take down a couple of degrees. No need for it tho

Ah great, maybe it's because I'm so use to it being at 37-40 on full load lol.

Thanks for replying:)

@Akxpckwb Thanks also for replying, i have an Arctic freezer pro 7, after reading the replies I'm pretty confident I won't need a new one, thanks :)

I have a C2D-E8400 with Hyper 212+ and my CPU is hitting 55C at full-load and 30C room temperature. Used to be around 65C with the stock HSF until it started loosening up after what temperature climbed up to 80C.

You might want to look into replacing your thermal paste or getting an aftermarket cooler. 74c isn't dangerous, but it's not great for the chip either.

As far as the OP, those temps are really good. With the old Core 2 Duos I set my hard limit for temperature at 65c, but I was overclocking aggressively. My old Tuniq 120 kept it around 40c without overclocking, and 55ish overclocked to the limit. 50c with the stock cooler is superb.
