TO: Everybody
Subjet: 2 LAN Cards in one(1) PC
I have windows 2003 server(192.168.1.100 static ip assign by router - LANCARD1) with 2 lancards on it.. the one connected to router with internet connection(router's gateway ip: 192.168.1.1) but the other one connected to modem(192.168.1.254 - gateway - LANCARD2) which is another private line(VPN) connected to other branch company, another modem there(branch modem IP: 192.168.2.1) if one cable connected to LANCARD2 there's a response when I ping it..but i manually assign IP to LANCard 2(192.168.1.200; subnet: 255.255.255.0; default gateway: 192.168.1.254) which is connected to Modem(192.168.1.254 - gateway)
Poblem: but if when plug-in 2 LANCARDS the lancard1 which is connected to router with internet.. has no signal or time out.. but when i unplug the cable from lancard2(connected to VPN) and there's a signal.. could help me to solve this problem???
OVERVIEW
1 PC - Installed Windows 2003 Server with 2 LANCARDS on it.
LANCARD1 - 192.168.1.100 – connected to ROUTER with internet (static IP assign by router)
LANCARD2 - 192.168.1.200 - connected to MODEM1 without internet which is connected another private line link to another branch and there’s also a MODEM2 there..
ROUTER’s GATEWAY IP: 192.168.1.1 - Office router with internet connection
MODEM1 – 192.168.1.254 Gateway IP -- Office - New Line, connected to another Branch
MODEM2 – 192.168.2.1 Gateway IP ---- Branch - New Line, connected to Office
MODEM1 & MODEM2 are connected each other.. - NEW LINE
LANCARD1 configuration – Static IP assigned by ROUTER IP address: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask:
Default Gateway:
LANCARD2 configuration - Manually assign IP: - New installed LAN CARD
IP address: 192.168.1.200
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254
PROBLEM:
When I plug the cable to LANCARD2 then I ping MODEM2 ---- there’s a response..
C:\Users\Rogen d>ping 192.168.2.1 –t
But when I plug the both cable to LANCARD1 and LANCARD2 respectively;
The LANCARD1 has no connection...
C:\Users\Rogen d>ping 192.168.1.1 –t time out
Question: How do I configure both LANCARDS so that they can work properly together
and also i can ping MODEM1, MODEM2, LANCARD1, LANCARD2 & ROUTER?
And how to use ROUTE command, if this is a solution.. ?
And lastly what do we call this type of networking?? is this VPN, EXTRANET, INTRANET? could u explain to me.. ?
Thanks so much for your time and effort...

Per your documentation above lan card 1 and 2 are both on the same subnet... and I'm guessing you're expecting it to route packets both through the router and through the 2nd modem. If both NIC's are connected to two separate networks both 192.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0... then how is the machine supposed to know where to route a packet? I believe you need to re-IP either lancard1 or 2's network and you should be ok after that.

but I tried Lancard2 to re-configure like this:

192.168.1.200
255.0.0.0
192.168.1.254 default gateway of MODEM1

but it works! I ping the following:

ping Lancard1 - success
ping lancard2 - success
ping router (office -192.168.1.1) - success
ping MODEM1(office) - success
ping MODEM2(branch) - success
ping DESKTOP COMPUTER (branch) with MODEM2 attached - success

when I was there @ branch office, I ping the following:

ping lancard2 - success
ping MODEM1 - success

But still has a problem when I use the program(Accounting System) to connect from branch to office server(Windows 2003 Server) with mysql server installed on it..

Status: very slow, I coudn't even search items. but it supposed to be very fast because it's a private/direct line.

Please me to solve this problem.. Thanks
