AMD FX-8120 and ASUS-M5A88-M No Boot BIOS update

Hello,

I have a question regarding my AMD FX-8120 and ASUS M5188.

I building a machine from scratch. After I hooked up all the components and hit the power button, the fans start up for a second but nothing else.

After some research I released the MOBO requires a BIOS update to support this processor.

I just want to confirm this is why it's not booting, I feel like the fans should stay on or get a POST error of some kind.

I'm going to purchase a cheap AM3 CPU to perform my BIOS update, but wanted to make certain that this is the issue.
