i looking to build my first pc. I'm looking to for it to handle everyday tasks with no problem, i do alot of programming so i want it to be able to handle, and some gaming like witcher 2, and portal. I'm not looking for it to run all ultra settings at all. just so graphics are decent and the game is playable. I'm a computer science student at penn state so im on a lil bit of a budget but do have a lil bit of room to mess with. i have came up with two lists on newegg.

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/ [...] D=18647572

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/ [...] D=18647652

looking for some critiques on each and advice.

i already have windows 7 disc, mouse, and keyboard

Definitely not the AMD one, using a GPU that's worse and a pretty expensive PSU that's $60 for only 400w isn't a great decision.

I'd go for the first wishlist you posted with slight tweaks as you can do better. Check out my $600 build here:

You get a better CPU (i5 2400) a solid PSU (Neo Eco 520w) and a great card, 6870. Certainly not a P67 board but the i5 2400 can't overclock anyways as all the SB chips without that annotation (K) can't but you really don't need it since the i5 2400 beats out practically all AMD chips.
