New build with SSD and HDD question

Hi,

In a couple days I'll be building my second pc. This is the first time I've used a SSD. With a SSD being small in storage I've decided to purchase a 750gb HDD for storage. Some of the hardware I'll be adding is:

-Asus Rampage III Forumla Series Motherboard
-Intel Core i7 2600k
-PNY Geforce GTX 580 GPU
-Corsair 1050w Professional Series Power Supply
-WD Caviar Black 750GB HDD
-Samsung 830 Series 128GB SSD

My question is this:

I want to use my SSD for the main OS and for games and whatnot. If I install both HDD and SSD and fire the machine up for the first time, how will I know which storage device is being used for the installation of Windows? A step by step how-to for dummies would be super awsome :) Thank you for your time.

  1. Do not plug the hard drive in until Windows is installed on the SSD and everything else is up and running. Then add the hard drive and follow this procedure for setup. http://www.pcworld.com/article/237496/the_best_of_both_worlds_an_ssd_and_a_hdd.html
  2. Can't believe I didn't think of not plugging the hard drive in until after windows install. Thanks a ton.
