Hi,

I'm using a laptop, HP dv6 6027tx and I have connected it to a monitor. I went to change the resolution and it allowed 1920x1440 as its max resolution. But, once I selected it the monitor told me that it was out of range. The best resolution I can go up to is 1366x768, but then this resolution and 1360x768 seems squashed on the monitor. So therefore, I have to use 1280x1024 at the moment. I was just wondering why it gives the option of selecting up to 1920x1440 but only allows me up to 1366x768? Is there a way that i can improve my resolution.

Thanks

Sounds like the monitor isn't capable of displaying a 1920x1440 resolution, hence the out of range error.

There is no way to go beyond your monitors native resolution, which can vary from monitor to monitor.

The nest thing you can do is find your monitors native resolution (typically the largest) and leave it at that.

Also another thing to check, the refresh rate, which will usually be at 59-60Hz for a typical monitor, no need to make it any higher than that.

3D capable monitors use a 120Hz refresh rate.

The refresh rate is the speed at which the monitor can display new images given it by the computer, measured in Hertz, or times per second. In almost all consumer monitors this is 60Hz, or 60 times per second. We can find the refresh rate with some Googling if you give us the model of the monitor, or you can find it yourself.

Sorry for the late reply, but I found out my model. Its BenQ FP222W and also another thing is that my monitor is called Generic Non-PnP in Devices and Printers. Is this right or should it be BenQ?

I don't have the option of 1680x1050 because above 1600x1200 I get 1792x1344. The max for me is 1920x1440 but my native resolution is 1680x1050. ty for replying
