Hello everyone,

I have read on some sites that Microsoft would release Windows 8 with Directx 11.1 or Directx 12. If its Directx 11.1, would the present graphic cards work with it with some software update or I would have to buy a new graphic card. My current card is EVGA GTX 570. :??:

well if the transition goes as slowly as has happened with the move from dx9 to dx11, there wont be any need to use dx11.1 or dx12 until 2015... heck even Skyrim is still dx9 only.
I used to get exited about new dx versions just like you but then I took an arrow in the knee.

DX11.1 will be backward compatible with DX11.
so no worries there. :)

and gtx570 will still be fast for dx12. so no worries there too. :D

By backward compatible you mean that DX 11.1 games would run on DX 11 cards? Also how gtx 570 which is a DX 11 card would be fast enough to run DX 12 games? Kindly inform. :)

if someone made a game that only supported 11.1 (or12) they would be very stupid... modern games that support dx11 also support dx9 for compatibility reasons, so you can play the game with older hardware in dx9 mode if needed... So in the future games that support dx12 will most likely run in dx11 mode on dx11 capable hardware, you'll miss the new features introduced in dx12 (whatever those might be) but the game will run just fine.
