GPU to suit budget and mobo

Hello, I have this motherboard;

I have either a 500 or 600 watt PSU and I have up to £120 to spend. I want a completely new PC but can't afford it, just need a new GPU that'll handle newer games and work with the 4x PCI-E slot.

Other specs;

Core 2 Duo E6400 @ 2.1ghz
2gb DDRII Ram (1066?)
A friend's Nvidia 9200 to replace a broken 7800GS

I would like to be able to play games at my native resolution of 1440x900, but wouldn't be too miffed if I had to drop down to 1024x768. Skyrim is my main pull towards an upgrade so decent settings/resolution on there would be great.

That would be about $188 US and the best cards in that arena are the 6870 and 560 and maybe a Ti that was on sale....

However, the x4 slot is gonna be a crimper.

At 1024 x 768 however, any $75 card will do just fine

Anything would be better than the card I have right now, which struggles to run Half Life 2 at 1024x768. I'm just wondering if the fact that the slot won't be PCI-E 2.1 or that it's only 4x will actually stop the card working. I don't want to fork out for the GPU only to have it fail to even recognise.

Ok, so I've got the money to buy a 6870 tomorrow and my local store has one in stock. Once it's out the box and used I won't be able to return it should it not work. Is there anyone who can suggest that it would/would not be compatible with the 4x PCI-E slot.
