Too many times we hear about lousy customer service/repair issues, but I had
a good one with Canon. It's with my video camera but I thought I'd post it
here because I think the experience just sold me on a new Powershot G6!

Our OPtura 20 videocam went out on us at the 19 month mark, 7 months our of
warranty. Basically, the lens got stuck open so everything is overexposed.
Since I live in the area I took it to the service center in Irvine...and the
very helpful people there not only took into account my needing it back the
same week for a big weekend trip, but when I explained the problem, they
said no charge as long as it's not water or sand damage.

2 days later I called to check on it and they said it would probably not be
ready, but when I explained the situation they connected me to the tech
assigned the job. That evening I had a message saying it was ready and I
could pick it up the next day. No charge.

Bravo, Canon!

Oh how I wish I had one nearby. I'm only 500 miles north but I wish I could
walk in and get service.
