Antec SmartPower 2.0 500 Watts

I bought two Antec SmartPower 2.0 500 Watts Power Supplies about six years ago, the first one failed just shy of 3 years and was replaced under warranty with a Earthwatts 500 Watt. The other one was in my backup machine which gets about three weeks of use a year, when my nephews come to visit. When the first one failed I moved the other into my primary computer so I would not be down during the RMA process. Now the other orginal SmartPower 2.0 has failed.

Was it just bad luck that both power supplies lasted three years under daily use or is that something I should expect.

In the primary computer they were on 14 hours a day, seven days a week and on a UPS.
