Hello all.

It's been quite a good while since I've upgraded my case and I wanted to hear some opinions on what's good these days. Here's what I have picked out for my new rig:

Corsair 300r [case]:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Scythe Kaze Master [fan controller]:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Cougar CF-V14H [fans]:

Thoughts? Suggestions? Other favorites?

I have the Scythe Kaze Master Pro and LOVE it...durable, sleek, good functionality/displays - highly recommend it. If you're getting a good quality case, then you can use the fans in the case. Put them on the fan controller and you can make them quiet or bump up the speed for extra airflow. I personally set mine at 1000RPM and accept slightly higher temps so I can have a quiet PC. If you want to get some good fans, then save yourself some money and get some Yate Loon D12SL-12s; 4/$20 at Petra's Tech shop: http://www.petrastechshop.com/12yalod1cafa.html

A great article on fan placement and impact on cooling to help you decide how you want to configure your fans: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/02/10/the-big-coo...
A good case lasts a long time. I love my P183...treat yourself to little upgrade on the case. Try a 400R: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
or a Fractal Design Define R3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Edit: I use those Yate Loons in my case and at 1000RPM I can't hear them.

i hear the 300r flimsy argument, but having used 4 of them for recent builds this has never been an issue and the +vs far out way the negs, also i reckon those orange fan blades will look nice behind the 300r black mesh.

Awesome write up about fans and those Yate Loons look pretty good too, thanks man. I may have to get some of those... Already ordered the Kaze master. Do you use rubber pins with those fans? Do they vibrate/make noise without them?

I was looking at the 400r, but the Define R3 looks good too... don't know if I want a front door again though :??:

I don't use rubber pins...standard fan screws and no vibration noise. Front door is a personal preference and you can certainly use it as a decision point. My P183 has one and it stays close almost all of the time; only open it if I need to access the DVD burner or hit the power button so it's not a big deal for me.
