I have an old Biostar tseries mobo TF7050-m2 600w power supply and I'm looking for a graphics card that will deliver HDMI audio and video (yes the onboard gpu has a hdmi output however after multiple reloads, updating all drivers etc. I can not get a single peep of sound out of the hdmi) not looking to spend alot as this will be solely for a HTPC, NOT my gaming rig. Any suggestions as to which ones are definately compatible would be greatly appreciated.

other info
AMD athlon x2 6400 2.2 Ghz processor (overclocked to 2.8 stable)
2gb DDR 2 RAM corsair
Windows XP pro sp3

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Almost all modern graphics cards provide HDMI output (with sound) throught their built-in audio chip. But before you give up on the integrated graphics solution, try cleaning your system of resource wasting garbage that has built up and registry errors with CCleaner. Run the Clean and the Registry both.

If there still is no satisfaction, uninstall the driver again. Boot to Safe Mode (tap F8 at bootup), and run Driver Sweeper to get rid of any Nvidia, AMD, and ATI driver remnants. Reboot and install the latest driver for your integrated graphics chipset.

Defrag when finished.

I would go with a Radeon HD 5450 or HD 5550 PCI-e 2.0 card. The HD 5550 is slightly more expensive, but it does includes additional algorithms that allows it to display better video quality than the HD 5450. However, the HD 5450 still provides good video quality.

Since you have an old motherboard you only have a PCI-e 1.0 / 1.1 slot and sometimes there are issues with PCI-e 2.1 cards in those slots.

Here are my suggestions:

Fanless MSI R5450-MD1GD3H/LP Radeon HD 5450 = $40

VisionTek 900331 Radeon HD 5550 = $55
