How to make PC Smoother

Wondering if there were any programs I could disable or how to make PC run smoother with new SWTOR game coming out.

HP A6009n
AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.90GHZ
3.00 GB Ram
Radeon HD6750 Graphics Card

Well, you can make sure that all the unnecessary programs have running on startup are turned off.

Clean the registry.

Defrag the harddrive.

Thank you again, I realized that I did not clean the registry, is their a good program to get to do that?

Download and run CCleaner. Run the cleaner part of the program to delete unnecessary temp files and other junk. Then run the registry cleaner.

I also like this defrag program as it seems to do a better job than the one built into Windows. Use the defrag and optimize setting in the pulldown tab.
