RAM Failure Nvidia 9800GTX?

Forum Graphics & Displays : Nvidia RAM Failure Nvidia 9800GTX?

Hi All! My poor 9800GTX has gone and gotton sick by way of displaying random coloured squares all over the screen, even during post. My computer will still boot with it but it obviously has no joy in installing the driver.
I assume that it is one or more of the onboard RAM chips that has bitten the dust. It is not the GPU itself (I'm pretty sure) as I have already given it a hardcore re-flow (as with the RAM) and it still shows exactly the same issue.
What I want to know is, if I remove the faulty RAM module (being I can identify it) will the card still function with less albiet with lower RAM? I'm guessing it won't but I don't have much to lose here. If anyone has ever done a simular repair I'd be thankfull for the advice.
Phill.

What you can try is baking it since it is most likely micro fracturing of the soldering! http://www.gpureview.com/how-to-fi [...] e-798.html

It is not a permanent fix but many have extended the life of their cards that way!

No, I already reflowed it using a reflow station, not my Hotpoint! It is not a solder / BGA fault, that I am sure of.
