GPU & CPU Upgrade for Diablo 3

Hello, I'm sort of new to upgrading my computer, so I need help on whether or not I should purchase a new processor and video card to play Diablo 3.
Dell Dimension E310
(Directly from Speccy)
Operating System
MS Windows XP Home 32-bit SP3
Intel Pentium 4 521
Prescott 90nm Technology
2.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 266MHz (4-4-4-12)
Dell Inc. 0JC474 (Microprocessor)
HP S2031 (1280x768@60Hz)
Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
Hard Drives
78GB Western Digital WDC WD800JD-75MSA1 (SATA)
Optical Drives
DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC

Essentially the only non-stock part I have is when I upgraded my 512 Ram to a 2GB.
I know I have a PCIE, so I looked for a nice graphics card, and I decided on the Nvidia GeForce 520 GT ( Processor-wise I'm set on the AMD Sempron 145 2.8 Ghz ( but I want to know if it will work.

I'm planning to play Diablo 3, League of Legends and eventually DotA 2. Low graphics settings is not a big deal for me, I've never had the opportunity to relish Crysis 2 or have anything above 30 FPS and I'm fine with that. So will this at least give me the bare minimum to play D3 and not destroy my motherboard?

  1. Shameless self-bump.
  2. You can't use that CPU in that motherboard.

The motherboard is Intel and that CPU is AMD.
  3. You would need a new motherboard. Also the Sempron is to weak for your needs you at least want an Athlon dual core (if low price is must) or preferably a Phenom quad core or Intel i3 (would all need new motherboards. As well as this you would need new DDR3 RAM. The 520 is not a gaming card either a 440 would be absolute bare minimum bargain basement gaming card.

    GIGABYTE GV-N440-1GI GeForce GT 440 (Fermi) 1GB

    G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM

    AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor

That totals $289.96 and is really the lowest you can go and still expect to run modern titles for a while

If cost is a major factor you could settle on a cheaper CPU an Intel Pentium G620 and a cheap H61 motherboard would save maybe $40 overall.

I don't play D3 (prefer proper games! :) ) but i highly doubt it will run on a sempron
  4. does he really need 8gb of ram to run D3? when Im running it and I open task manager its only taking up 2gb, so if windows takes up 1.5 and D3 takes up 2, he could live with 4gb of ram, (save a couple bucks)
