I would like the best from my desktop. I don't want just the latest and greatest of whats on the market. I want the best for my PC at a good price. So my Question is what would be the best layout for my PC?

Solution
Hey, going to bed so I won't mind if yuo don't reply, others will take over and carry on. Seems to me you should be looking at more like 1000 all in. 1600 seems bizzarely expensive. 100-case, 200 mobo+ram, 200 CPU, 150 psu, 250 gpu, 100 storage. very roughly, maybe add 10% to that

Sorry. I mean what would be the best setup(CPU, Video Card, Motherboard, etc). I'm looking into custom building a PC or buy the already to go and then customizing later down the road. Just want to know the best.

I guess to make it a little easier I need help deciding the Video Card and Processor, I think I can figure the rest out. I'm looking at going Intel(unless informed otherwise) for the Processor but not sure which one. I know that Intel can get a little pricey the higher you go, so I just want to know which is the best(not the latest and greatest, just the best), I don't need what's new just what's best.

lol, best which i would call pricey, is intel core i7 2700k(sandybridge), and a NVIDIA GTX590 series, if u can overclock it, do so, and buy amazing cooling(probably expensive watercooling)

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115095

GPU: http://www.amazon.com/GeForce-768-bit-ENGTX590-3DIS-3GD5/dp/B0009PTE58/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1328904992&sr=8-2

for the CPU if u want a server CPU which is even more expensive go for:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116491

if u want a cheaper GPU that is also amazing go for one of these:

OMG that pricey for what you are getting,
1 those dvd writers look expensive,
2 not much memory 4Gb is not enough
3 which version of windows you need 64bit
4 that is one seriously expensive HDD, get a cheaper one and an SSd.
5 Ditch P67 get Z68
6 get OEM win 7
7 get the 560ti 448 its about 90% of the performance for 70% of the price.
8 that PSU is very over sized, if you are planning to SLI thats ok, otherwise a waste
9 that RAM is over priced, I can get 16GB of 1600 for £70,

Have you just gone most expensive (not top end) on everything?

What will you use it for?

I'm going to use this computer for gaming, game development, and going to school to get a Degree in CS. I don't want an extreme computer. I want the best at an affordable price. I'm trying not to go over 1500. My goal is to be around 1000, i'm okay with going a little over.

Seriously a degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering ... a game dev? You are still not sure, are you. You really have no idea what this involves...find some time and do a research what are the implementation for each degree/career before you spend money and time on something you think you might like.

Anyway: You might end up in design so go with i7 2600k, Asus z68 motherboard, 8GB of 1600 DDR3 ram (for start it is more than enough), 240GB SSD, Radeon 7950, at least Corsair 650W PSU, but the most important part is great monitor so go with 27" monitor with high resolution like this 2560x1440 not 1920x1080...I know that is over budget but it will make your work easier.

Good luck and do a research,
Cheers, Max.

in fact check out the toms 500/1000 and 2000 builds from a few months ago, read the final article as there were issues with one of the buils can't recall which one though.
and for any kind of dev work, at least 2 screens are well worth it. although with this the nvidia gpu's will run hotter unless you get a cheap card to run the second screen, as they do not idle when two screen are connected, pushing the idel temps from 55ishto 80ish and hence an increase in fan speed. Two cards (even if grossly imbalanced) and that goes away, this is not SLI.

I could have sworn i'd seen a 560/448 for 219 inc rebates advertised somewhere.

http://www.tweaktown.com/news/22609/deal_of_the_day_newegg_galaxy_geforce_gtx_560_ti_448_cores_video_card_219_99_after_rebate/index.html

the 750 is still too much unless you plan on SLI
the caviar black is ok at that price, if you want your system to be really responsive then get a 128GB SSD crucial M4 for instance for you OS drive and treat the caviar for data/large programs.

I'd say you still have the bulk of the performance from the previous build for $400 less. Getting the SSD will probably give you more performance than the previous build.
