I am looking to build a gaming computer, I have one but it is starting to get slow, it is about 4 years old now, I spent about $1500 getting it built about 4 years ago, and 2 years ago replaced the motherboard, and the processor because those died. It has been working fine since but I am planning on giving this to my girlfriends kid when I build mine.
I will buy him a new keyboard and mouse and will keep mine.
I am trying to figure out what the best option and price range would be for me.
Approximate Purchase Date: At the end of February.
Budget Range: $1200-$2000 (I am not sure what pricing options I want to go with, but I want something that will last me a few years, but still kill it in the gaming department. Something that will load games like League of Legends pretty fast, as well as Modern Warfare 3 and similar games that might come out in the near future)
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming< Surfing the internet< Watching movies.
Parts Not Required: Sound card (Soundblaster X-fi, G-15 Keyboard, Logitech gaming mouse, Sound System already have a 7.1 surround sound. I also have an external Hard Drive I plan to boot a lot of my games from, and save programs etc on like I do with my current computer, so I would like a SSD or a Raptor Drive only for the operating system)
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg.com, and anything that has good prices and good customer service. (Newegg is the only one I have heard of.)
Country: USA
Parts Preferences: Prefer Intel (Sandy Bridge I think it is?) But am willing to go with anything as long as I can get something that is great.
Overclocking: Most likely not.
SLI or Crossfire: SLI preferred
Monitor Resolution: I usually go around 1680x1050, somewhere around there.
Additional Comments: Case does not matter to me really.
I am looking to keep it in the 1200-2000 price range, my monitor I don't really want anything bigger than 22" but 19-21 would be optimal most likely. I don't care if it is plasma or lcd, as long as it fits well with my gaming.
I did some work on computers for fun when I was in the Marines so I know a little bit about working on them but am not an expert.
Thank you ahead of time for your help.
