USB 3.0

I bought a USB 3.00 add on card but then discovered that I already had 2 USB 3.0 ports on my PC. I decided to add the card anyway but my PC doesn't seem to want to recognise it. Is it because the PCI address is already taken by the inbuilt USB 3.00?

  1. no

the usb card will be using pci-e bandwidth.

    is it recognised in BIOS?
  2. Thank you for the reply. Yes it is recognised in BIOS and the USB 3.0 ports that were already on my system work but the new card just won't install. I ran the installation disk that came with it but that didn't do anything. I am not sure if Windows could be somehow preventing the installation?
  3. What kind of Windows?

Go to the website of the manufacturer of the PCI-E card and see if there is a download for your specific version of windows.
  4. Windows 7

Ok thanks will check with the manufacturer.
  5. You need to be specific when you check. Win 7 32-bit or Win 7 64-bit?
  6. We decided not to install it after all and have returned it to the supplier but thank you for your efforts to assist.
  7. How much was the expansion may I ask?
