Hello everyone,

after my first PC build a couple of months ago (i5-2500K main machine) I'm now looking at a HTPC for the new 40" HD Flatscreen.

My idea is as follows:

Approximate Purchase Date: Within 2 months

Budget Range: £200

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Watching blurays, streaming video / audio, some internet surfing, no intensive gaming

Parts Not Required: Case, PSU (Have salvaged a 400W Bronze certifed PSU from a old works computer), Large data HDD storage drive

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: UK websites

Country: UK

Parts Preferences: AMD Llano APU

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Monitor Resolution: HD 1080p Flatscreen

Additional Comments: Quiet and using Ubuntu with xbmc

At the moment I'm looking at:

APU: AMD A4-3400 2.7Ghz FM1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-2-7GHz-...18M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329041501&sr=8-1]

Mobo: AsRock A75M-itx http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASRock-A75M...1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1329041572&sr=1-1]

RAM: 2x2GB 1600Mhz of 'Known Brand' memory

Optical Drive: A Bluray Combo (Not bothered about burning Bluray discs)

Storage Drive: I have a WD Green 2TB that already has musc, video and photos on it. I will be buying another one to set up a RAID1 system when HDD prices come back to a reasonable level.

Boot Drive: A fast 'thumb' drive plugged into the USB headers on the mobo via an adaptor

OS: Unbuntu on the thumb drive, with xbmc as the media software

I will also be looking at a wireless keyboard, remote control and a Freeview or Freesat TV Card at some point in the future.

I have a massive case from a CCTV system from work, way too big but it fits in with the AV kit. At some point the HDD's with be put into a NAS drive or Microserver system and a smaller case purchased.

Any thoughts on this?

Cheers. :)
